Rat Catcher

Dead Brown Rat
Purrgeot was reluctant to come in last night although we knew he was out in the dark messing about with something. Finally he came to the patio doors and we let him in - complete with a dead Brown Rat that he had caught (12 inches long from nose to tail). He dropped it in the sitting room and was obviously very pleased with himself. This was only the second record for the garden - both seen dead.

Snow Fight

Yesterday, the motordrive was put through its paces when Jaz picked a fight with a local spotty cat in the snow. The middle picture actually caught them in mid air, blended together as one mass of hissing, spitting fur. Amazing! They both seemed to walk away unscathed, but there were quite a few tufts of fur left blowing around on the patio.
Great-spotted Woodpecker and Kestrel seen on the way to work.

Digging the Pond

Jaz attends to his favourite scratching post.

Various creatures found over the weekend were a beetle larvae, Harlequin Ladybird and a Shield-bug.

Inspired at last to dig the pond, but as you can see there's a long way to go.

It's cool being a cat

Jaz and Purrgeot don't always like to do everything together, but in this case they're just copy cats, recharging the batteries ready for a day chasing squirrels, stalking birds and keeping a careful watch on the feline activity in the neighbourhood.
